Sutter Health Park Welcomes Savannah Bananas’ “World Famous Baseball Circus” in 2024

West Sacramento, California—In a thrilling return, the Savannah Bananas and their renowned “World Famous Baseball Circus” are set to make their way to Sutter Health Park for the second consecutive year. Baseball enthusiasts will have three opportunities to witness the captivating spectacle of Banana Ball in person from May 9 to May 11, 2024.

The Savannah Bananas have carved out their unique niche in the baseball world with their distinctive style of play, aptly named “Banana Ball.” ESPN has bestowed upon it the title of “The Greatest Show in Sports,” touting it as the “fastest and most entertaining game of baseball.”

Following a highly successful seven-city tour in 2022, Banana Ball exploded onto the scene with an impressive 87-game journey that spanned 33 cities across 21 states, captivating over 500,000 fans in 2023. Now, in 2024, the Bananas are poised to elevate the excitement even further.

“I think [last] year showed people that we aren’t just here to entertain, but that we can actually play at a very high level too,” remarked Bananas’ infielder Jackson Olson. “2023 was life-changing for all of us, but 2024 is about to be the biggest challenge yet, and we’re all ready for it.”

Sacramento fans who attended last year’s edition were treated to the presence of Bay Area baseball legends such as Hunter Pence, Josh Reddick, and Eric Byrnes, who graced the field once again. The event featured Pence riding his famous scooter from the outfield gate to home plate, hitting a single, and Pence and Reddick engaging in popular TikTok dances in the outfield between pitches.

Sutter Health Park was among the 33 stops on the 2023 tour, where Sacramento fans experienced firsthand the captivating action that has made the Bananas “TikTok’s favorite team,” amassing over 7.5 million followers. Spearheaded by owner Jesse Cole, who is recognizable by his signature yellow suit at every location, the Bananas have amassed over 10 million followers and 200 million likes across all their social media platforms.

The Bananas are set to bring their unique brand of baseball back to Sutter Health Park, featuring Banana Ball—a fast-paced, action-packed style of baseball. Banana Ball includes distinctive rules such as no bunting, a two-hour time limit, fans catching foul balls for outs, batters stealing first base, and a one-on-one tiebreaker showdown at the end of the game if the score is tied. Fans can watch previous Banana Ball games on ESPN+ and the Bananas’ YouTube channel.

The in-game entertainment promises non-stop surprises, including choreographed dances by players in every game, epic hitter walk-ups to the plate, exuberant scoring celebrations, the world’s only Dancing Umpire and Breakdancing First Base Coach, the Banana Nanas Dance Team, the first-ever baseball player on stilts, and much more.

The Bananas will face off against their rivals, the Party Animals, with both team rosters featuring the most entertaining and skilled players globally, including former MLB stars and celebrity guests. In 2023, former Major League luminaries such as Jake Peavy, Hunter Pence, Johnny Damon, Josh Reddick, and Barry Zito all joined the team during the tour.

Banana Ball’s 2022 World Tour was immortalized in a five-part documentary titled “Bananaland,” available on ESPN+. The show will return for its second season, “Bananaland: The Road to Cooperstown,” exclusively premiering on the Savannah Bananas’ YouTube channel. The Bananas’ in-game entertainment and social media presence have earned them recognition in prominent outlets such as ESPN, Wall Street Journal, CNN, and Sports Illustrated.

Hailing from Savannah, Georgia, the Bananas regularly play their home games before a packed 4,000-person crowd at Grayson Stadium—a stadium renowned as the first and only ad-free stadium in the country. Grayson Stadium has seen consecutive sellouts for seven years, with an astounding 80,000 fans on the priority list for tickets in Savannah alone.
